How to Flash / install MIUI 12 OTA update on Xiaomi, Redmi and Poco phone

MIUI 12 is already rolling out for all eligible Xiaomi, Poco and Redmi smartphone. Most phones in China have already gotten the update and a whole lot of users in other regions like India, EEA (Europe), Indonesia. Turkey and Russia have also received the update.

Even though a whole lot of users have already been able to update their phones to the latest MIUI 12, there are still a whole lot of users with eligible devices, but are still stuck on MIUI 11 and yet to receive the MIUI 12 update. In this post however, I will be explaining in details how to manually update your phone to MIUI 12 through OTA update.

First, you have to be sure the update is not available for your phone yet by heading to the Settings >> About Phone  >> System update and then click on Check for updates. You can read more on it HERE.

Before downloading the OTA ROM for your phone, make sure you know the region of your phone and download the correct ROM version for the region you are in. To know the correct ROM version for your phone, simply follow the procedure below.

How to Check Your Phone Version

Go to your phone's Settings >> About phone , then check the MIUI version.

• “MI” means Global Version-12.X.X.X(***MI**)
• “IN” means Indian Version-12.X.X.X(***IN**)
• “EU” means Europe Version-12.X.X.X(***EU**)
• “RU” means Russian Version-12.X.X.X(***RU**)
• “ID” means Indonesian Version-12.X.X.X(***ID**)

How to manually Update Redmi, Poco and Xiaomi Phone to MIUI 12 through OTA 
Requirements:

• Xiaomi MIUI 12 OTA ROM: Download HERE.

How to install:

• Download the MIUI 12 OTA zip file for your Xiaomi smartphone from the link above.
• Copy the OTA file to your phone’s internal storage.
• Go to your phone Settings >> About Phone >> System Update.
  

• Tap the MIUI logo for 10 times continuously.
  
  
  

• Click on the three vertical dots on the top right corner to open the menu and select “Choose Update Package”.
  

• Your file manager will then open, locate the ROM zip file you downloaded and select it.
• Tap on reboot to apply the MIUI 12 update on your Xiaomi Phone.
• Your phone will then reboot and the update process will start automatically.
