If you flash custom ROMs or kernels a lot, then you definitely must have heard of TWRP. Team Win Recovery Project popularly known as Twrp is the most popular custom recovery available for Android smartphones as well as tablets.
Twrp is an open source project built with customisation as well as ease of use in mind. It features a fully touch control user interface with a whole lot of functionalities. With Twrp, you can install both official and unofficial ROMs, flash custom kernels, root phones and do many more.

A new version of Twrp was recently released which is the Twrp 3.4.0. The new version is packed with a couple of new features and improvements like the Fix backup, Restore using SAR, Zip install – Chaosmaster and many more.

The update is available for a couple of Xiaomi smartphones like the Mi A2/Lite, Mi MIX 2S, Mi 9, Mi 9T Pro / Redmi K20 Pro, Mi 9, Mi 9T / Redmi K20, Redmi Note 8/Pro/8T, and the Note 5/Pro. Below is the download links for the devices as well as the installation procedure.

How to Install Twrp Recovery on Xiaomi / Redmi Smartphones
Requirements:
  • Unlocked Bootloader: Check out detailed guide Here
  • Adb/fastboot: Download Here
  • Twrp for all Xiaomi Redmi smartphones: Download from the links above or Here


How to Flash/Install Twrp recovery on Xiaomi and Redmi devices
  • Make sure your bootloader is unlocked or click on this LINK for guide
  • Install fastboot/ADB driver on your PC by clicking on this LINK
  • Download the Twrp for your device from this LINK or from the links provided above 
  • Rename the downloaded twrp image to twrp.img
  • Copy the downloaded Twrp file to any folder on your PC.
  • Inside the folder, hold down your shift key and right click on an empty space inside the folder.
  • Select Open command window here from the menu options.
  • Go to phone settings >> About >> Tap MIUI version 7 times
  • Go back to phone settings >> Additional settings >> Developer options >> Enable Developer options.
  • Connect your phone to your PC.
  • Then enter the command below and hit the enter key to reboot to fastboot mode
    •             adb reboot bootloader
                                    OR

  • Turn off your phone and reboot into fastboot mode manually by holding down the power button + volume down.
  • Input the command below and hit the Enter key to flash Twrp on your phone
    •             fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
  • After Installation, enter the command below to reboot your phone to recovery.
      •             fastboot boot twrp.img
