How to root the Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 (Ginkgo) with Magisk v20.1

Even though people don't root their smartphones as much as they use to, it still doesn't change the fact that some people still do. There are still a few limitations on Android which can only be accessed through rooting.
This post will just be all about detailed guide on how to successfully root the Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 (Codename: Ginkgo). You will need to have Twrp installed for this method to work. I have included a link to Twrp installation method for Redmi Note 8 below.


Requirements:
  • Twrp for Redmi Note 8 - Ginkgo : Download Here
  • Magisk-v20.1.zip: Download Here

How to root Xiaomi Redmi Note 8
  • Make sure you have Twrp recovery installed or follow the procedure above.
  • Download Magisk v20.1 from the link above and copy it to your phone internal storage.
  • Turn off your phone and reboot to recovery by holding down the Volume up and power button at the same time.
  • Once in Twrp mode, tap on install and select the Magisk zip file.
  • Swipe to the right to Install.
  • Once the installation is completed, tap on reboot to system.
  • You can check if your phone was successfully rooted by downloading Root checker from playstore or from this LINK.
