How to install OTA update zip file on all Xiaomi smartphones

Just like every other smartphone manufacturer out there, Xiaomi phones do get regular MIUI firmware update and they do come in three forms which can be either fastboot, OTA or recovery.

In this post, I will show you guys a detailed and simple guide on how to install the recovery update on any Xiaomi smartphone.

Prerequisite:

• Make sure you have at least 60% battery life on your phone
• Download the recovery update (.zip) for your phone and copy it to a folder in your phone's internal storage. e.g download folder

How to update your Xiaomi phone with recovery update

• Go to your phone's setting and click on About phone
• Click on System update and then click on the three dots at the top right corner
  
• Navigate to the folder where you saved the recovery zip file and select it
• Your phone will verify the file and ask you to confirm afterwards
• After confirmation, it will reboot and automatically install the update
