Download Official TWRP 3.4.0-0 recovery on Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 / 7S (Lavender)

If you want to root your Android smartphone or flash custom kernels and recoveries, then you will most likely need a custom recovery for this. There are a few custom recoveries out there for Android devices, but one of the most popular and arguably the best is TWRP.

With Twrp, you get way more features and also unlock a whole lot of possibilities that are not available on stock recovery, such as ability to install custom ROMs, format your data partition, install custom kernel, root your phone and many more.

In this post, I will explain in full details how to easily install Twrp recovery on your Xiaomi Redmi Note 7. The procedure is pretty simple and straightforward. Note that the Redmi Note 7 is just 2 months old and there is no official Twrp for the device yet. However, there are a few unofficial twrp recovery for the device but they may be buggy.

Requirements

• Unlocked bootloader: Check how to unlock Xiaomi bootloader HERE.
• Unofficial Twrp for Redmi Note 7: Download HERE or HERE.
• ADB & Fastboot: Download HERE.

How to Install Twrp on Redmi Note 7

• Make sure your phone bootloader is unlocked or you can follow the procedure above to unlock it
• Enable developer option on your phone by going to your phone settings >> About Phone and tap your phone version 7 times until you see "You are a developer" message
• Enable debugging by going to your phone settings >> Additional settings >> Developer Options >> USB Debugging then enable it.
• Now connect your phone to the computer using a USB cable
• ADB Fastboot must be installed on your phone or you can follow the procedure above.
• Download the TWRP recovery image and rename it to twrp.img (case sensitive)
• Copy the recovery.img file into the adb folder which is usually located at C:\adb\.
• Hold down the shift key on your keyboard and right click inside the folder you pasted the twrp image (  C:\adb\)
• Select "Open PowerShell window here".
• Reboot your phone into fastboot mode by entering the command below

            adb reboot bootloader

• Once your phone boots into fastboot mode, enter the command below to install twrp recovery

         fastboot flash recovery twrp.img

• Once the TWRP installation is complete, enter the command below to reboot your phone

        fastboot reboot

• That is all. You can boot into recovery at any time by holding down your Power button and volume up button at the same time.
